Number Porting (Mobile)
Mobile Phone Number Porting, Mobile phone number transfer
Ask a Question:
Phone Number Porting / Number Transfer (Mobile)
Porting Mobile number is a different process to Porting Land Line numbers. City Telecom can port your existing number when buying online, and make the process as simple as possible, so you do not need to spend time updating all your friends and contacts with a new number. This can all be done via our website.
If you would like to transfer, or Port, your current number to your new mobile phone or our network, then the following is a good guideline.
1) Obtain your PAC code (Porting Authorisation Code) from your current provider
2) Buy a new SIM card on our website
3) Provide City Telecom with the PAC Code and information as requested during the ordering process on this website
4) Will take care of the rest. Transfer should take a day or two.
Some important notes:
• Some providers will not provide you a PAC code until the end of your contract.
• The Pac Code is normally made up of three letters and six numbers and some Networks charge a small administration fee.
• Do not cancel your existing contract, as disconnected numbers cannot subsequently be transferred. By providing your PAC
number to your new chosen network this will initiate the cancellation process with your current network
• Getting a PAC does not mean that you have given notice to end your contract. If you get a PAC but don't use it,
then nothing will happen.
• Your service, line rental, etc will continue if your current service provider doesn't receive your request to transfer your
number, even if you gave notice to end your contract.
